Major Awards

                     The Discovery Badge

The Discovery Badge is the major award for the Company age group, being achieved during year 3 or aged 13/14 years.

To gain the award a young person has to:

  • Gain a Core Activity Award in the last 12 months.
  • Complete a ‘Faith Journey’ element.
  • Complete 1+ Night Away or 2+ Adventure Days.
  • Complete 3 hours volunteering in Company/Church or ‘Volunteer’ Staged Award Level 2.
  • Be an ‘Active’ member of the Company.

         The Presidents’ Badge

Awarded from Year 1 in the Seniors age group, it will is the first of two major awards which can be gained in Seniors.

Requirement for the Award

To gain the award a young person has to:

  • Gain a Core Activity Award in the last 12 months (alternatively a young person could have completed Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to fulfil this element).
  • Complete ‘Faith Journey’ element.
  • Complete 2+ Nights Away within last 24 months or 3+ Adventure Days.
  • Complete 10 hours volunteering in Company/Church or complete ‘Volunteer’ Staged Award Level 3 (alternatively a young person could have completed Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to fulfil this element).
  • Complete Building your Skills Course or complete ‘Teamwork’ Staged Award Level 3.
  • Be an ‘Active’ member of the Company.

                   The Queens’ Badge

The Queen’s Badge is the highest award that may be gained by a member of The Boys’ Brigade.

It’s a real opportunity; it aims to challenge and equip the individual, provide new opportunities and expand horizons while remaining accessible to young people of all abilities.

A young person wishing to work towards their Queen’s Badge must first have completed their President’s Badge. The Queen’s Badge offers the chance to engage with the local community, take on responsibility, set personal goals, build self confidence and experience a sense of achievement.

What are the requirements?

In order to achieve the Queen’s Badge a young person must complete the following activities:

  • Hold the President’s Badge
  • Attend a Candidate’s Meeting
  • Participate in skills-based training
  • Take responsibility within the BB or Church
  • Provide voluntary service or support to others outside the BB or Church
  • Develop Interests (Skills, Physical, Expedition)
  • Participate in a Completion Residential
  • Record Activity
