Who We Are

Welcome to the Brighton, Hove & District Battalion of The Boys’ Brigade.

Founded in 1883, The Boys’ Brigade is the UK’s oldest uniformed youth organisation. As a Christian organisation, we’re passionate about helping children and young people grow in confidence, character, and faith through a fun, challenging, and caring programme of activities.

Every week, thousands of young people aged 5–18 take part in Boys’ Brigade activities across the UK, including many with no previous connection to a church. Here in Brighton, Hove & District, we’re proud to have 8 Companies serving local communities.

Our Mission

The Object of The Boys’ Brigade is:

The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys/Girls, and the promotion of habits of obedience, reverence, discipline, self-respect, and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness/person.

Today, we continue this mission by providing opportunities for young people to develop spiritually, physically, socially, and emotionally in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Sure & Steadfast

Our motto, Sure & Steadfast, comes from Hebrews 6:19:

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”

It reflects the values that have guided The Boys’ Brigade for more than 140 years: faith, resilience, and hope.
